As part of my practice leading up to What Remains Grows, I produced a series of small-scale studies to interrogate compositional structure and spatial tension. These works functioned as a testing ground, a way to explore rhythm, balance, and interruption on a more intimate scale before committing to the larger canvases. Working in this focused format allowed for agility and risk: I could push forms, question hierarchies, and resolve visual problems in real time. These studies were not simply preparatory they were an essential part of thinking through the work, letting intuition and inquiry shape the final outcomes.
